Lagos Government Refutes Claims of Re-Introduced Monthly Environmental Sanitation
The Lagos State Government has debunked false claims circulating on social media about the re-introduction of monthly environmental sanitation and the implementation of movement restrictions starting at the end of July.
In a statement signed by the State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the government clarified that these rumors are the work of mischief makers intent on misleading residents.
Residents are urged to ignore the fake news and continue their regular activities, as there will be no movement restrictions on the last Saturday of July.
Wahab highlighted that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced during a sanitation sensitization exercise at Campos playground, Lagos Island, that the state will commence a weekly community-based sensitization and awareness campaign. This initiative will involve all residents, with state officials leading by example through voluntary participation in cleaning activities and promoting the sanitation message.
The Commissioner emphasized that at no point did the Governor state that a monthly exercise or movement restriction would begin in July or any other time soon. Residents are encouraged to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings regularly, without waiting for a specific government declaration.
