FirstBank Inspires Nigerians to Strive for Success in Its New ‘Giant’ Campaign

After 130 years of transforming the financial landscape in the country, Nigeria’s most admired bank, FirstBank, has launched the ‘Giant’ campaign, designed to inspire its stakeholders to strive for success.

The ‘Giant’ campaign, with the central message: “There is a Giant in You. First Bank puts you first so you can live the Giant life,” was launched to mark the 130th anniversary of a bank that has become an African heritage.

Speaking at the launch of the campaign on Friday in Lagos, Mr. Yinka Ijabiyi, Head of Brand and Stakeholder Management at First Bank, said: “The ‘Giant’ campaign we are launching today is not just about First Bank. It’s about the customers, the people we serve. We believe in the giant potential within every customer, employee, and stakeholder—a giant dream, a giant possibility, a giant idea, a giant future waiting to be realized.”

While emphasizing the bank’s commitment to nurturing the giant within every individual, Ijabiyi highlighted the bank’s dedication to providing business support, financial expertise, and growth solutions to help customers achieve their dreams.

“We are the partner with tailored solutions for every customer, employee, and stakeholder. We have what it takes to turn dreams into giant successes,” Ijabiyi added.

He said the bank’s services are designed to help customers “giant-size” their dreams, offering businesses the platforms and solutions needed to grow, innovate, and achieve remarkable success.

First Bank, known officially as First Bank of Nigeria Limited, was established in 1894. It was originally founded as the Bank of British West Africa (BBWA) in Lagos by Sir Alfred Jones, a shipping magnate from Liverpool, England. The bank primarily aimed to serve the needs of the British colonial administration and the burgeoning trade between the United Kingdom and West Africa. Over the years, it evolved and expanded its services, becoming a leading financial institution in Nigeria. It rebranded to its current name in 1979.
