Dangote Explains Decision to Forego Owning Property Abroad

Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest individual, has clarified that his Abuja residence is a rented apartment, countering the misconception that it is his own property. Speaking at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lagos, Dangote explained that his choice not to own houses outside Nigeria stems from his strong commitment to the country’s industrialization.

He mentioned that he previously owned a residence in London, which he sold in 1996 to focus on his projects in Nigeria.

Dangote expressed his dedication to the Nigerian dream, stating that his commitment to the nation’s development drives him to prioritize industrial endeavors over personal interests. He believes that owning properties abroad could divert his attention from his goals, hence his decision to focus exclusively on his ventures in Nigeria.

Fatima Dangote, the Group Executive Director of Commercial Operations, commended her father’s unwavering dedication to the Nigerian dream. She highlighted his relentless work ethic and commitment to the country’s progress, expressing her admiration for his perseverance. She hopes that more people will share his vision and dedication to contribute to Nigeria’s development.
