Covid-19: NAFDAC approves two new vaccines for use in Nigeria
As part of efforts to check the spread of Covid-19, the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has approved two more vaccines, Moderna and Sputnik for use in Nigeria.
The Director-General of NAFDAC, Professor Moji Adeyeye, announced this on Thursday at a news conference in Abuja.
She explained that although the Sputnik vaccine has not yet been approved by the World Health Organisation, NAFDAC has carried out independent checks on the vaccine and found that the benefits outweigh the risks.
Nigeria has been using Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine which got to the country in January.
The country is also facing third wave of yhr pandemic with the deadliest recorded in Delta and some other States.
