2023: RCCG LP-25 RMF Conference addresses goal setting and investment opportunities

The annual RCCG Lagos Province 25, Redeemers’ Men conference was held on Saturday April 22, 2023 at the Gateway Cathedral. Theme: Manifestation, the conference addressed participants on Setting and Achieving Goals for Career Actualization, Financial Stability and Well-being.

The well attended event which also reviewed Nigeria’s Economic Outlook, Investment Opportunities 2023, had in attendance men representing all the parishes, areas and zones under the province.

Addressing the gathering, the PICP, Pastor Debo Akande, charged the men to stand for integrity. Represented by the APICP CSR, Pastor Obed Atewe, he called on them to be at the forefront as ambassadors for Christ, to manifest for God and for the world.

Mr. Basil Agboarumi, Managing Director/CEO of Skyway Aviation Handling Company Plc (SAHCO) addressed the theme for the conference; he underlined the need to set goals, that “goals gives you hope and strengthen your resolve”.

Speaking on the roadmap for career actualization, he explained that “Today’s career paths aren’t nearly as straightforward as our grandparents’. Emerging technologies, economic upheavals, and geopolitical turbulence have defined the 21st century as one in which new realities materialize with unprecedented speed.”

Represented by his technical assistant, Mr Amos Ayeni; he listed some vital points that will aid actualization of financial goals to include the need to; Set priorities, make budget, build an emergency fund, avoid debt, diversify your investments, reduce risk as you age and make a financial plan.

Mr Edmund Minimah, Managing Partner, Freed capitals, presented a review of Nigeria’s economic outlook and investment opportunities for 2023. According to him areas of promising investment opportunities include; Supply Chain, IT & Mefontainment and Renewable Energy/Real Estate.

According to him, Supply Chain is “An Industry with capacity over $10bln annually. E-commerce has been on the rise for over a decade now. Maximize timely deliverables as the demand is too much for the already existing players.”

“IT & Mefontainment, this is the fastest growing non-oil sector with current value over at $10.6bln. With virtually all businesses streamed online today. Engage top-line web services with cutting-edge deliverables.”

On Renewable Energy/Real Estate; “Awareness of alternative energy sources on the high; over 50,000 used batteries to be recycled annually; over 28mln housing unit deficit.”

On his part, Mr Segun McMedals, Immediate Past Chairman, Nigerian Institute of Public Reations Lagos spoke on the law of expectations, urging the participants to position themselves for the opportunities around them. According to him, “Whatever you expect will happen to you, you need to have great expectations in life”

He addressed the need for personal strategic plans on setting and actualizing goals. “Write down your goal, otherwise it is a mere wish, act on it, have a date to your plan, Identify the possible obstacles and don’t be afraid to dream big” he said.

Mr Olabamiji Adeleye, President, Redeemers’ Men Fellowship, Lagos Province 25, during his opening remark explained that the essence of this year’s conference was to address how to make the best of the opportunities in 2023. He added that the annual gathering provides a unique platform for men under the province to discuss and come up with solutions to issues that affect members.

The program provided health talk and free check up for all members. On the initiative the president noted that, “for us to be able to actualize our great dreams and aspirations, we need be in the right state of health.”
